EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Bishops, priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion in virtue of their office as ordinary ministers of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are parish lay people appointed to assist the priest in administering Holy Communion.
Every two years the Pastor of the Church will choose parishioners to serve as Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion to be approved by the Bishop.
To serve, persons must:
- Be in full communion with the Church, having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
- Be practicing Catholics
- Be in good standing with the Church
- Be registered members of Holy Savior
- Attend Mass regularly
Schedules are published monthly in advance. Please refer any scheduling to the Parish Office. It is the responsibility of the Liturgical Minister to find a replacement.
