WELCOME LUNCHEON for new parishioners is next Sunday November 9th after the 11:00 a.m. Mass.  We want to welcome and recognize newcomers to our parish.  We invite those who have joined the parish within the past year, anyone we may have missed last year, also anyone who has not yet registered.  We also invite and welcome Catholic students from Mississippi College and Hinds community College.  Please sign-up or call the Parish Office at 601-924-6344.  Sign-up sheets are located in the vestibule.

 

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION children in Pre-K – 6th grade are asked to bring canned goods to class in exchange for Holy Savior Bucks November 2nd – 16th. 

 

CYO NEWS the CYO will be collecting men’s gloves and socks (for approximately 150 people) after all Masses November 9th and 16th to deliver to Stewpot on November 23rd.  Your help and support would be greatly appreciated.  The CYO wishes to thank all parishioners for their support of the pancake breakfast last Sunday.

 

NEWMAN CLUB will meet this Sunday November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. in Jennings Room 308.    All College students are invited to attend.  We thank Jim and Linda Terry for providing the dinner.

 

NEW ALTAR SERVER TRAINING will be held in the church this Sunday, November 2nd and Sunday, November 9th from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Attendance at both sessions is mandatory.   Parent permission slips will be provided at Religious Education classes.  Altar Servers must be in Fourth Grade or above, attend Mass regularly with their parents, and participate regularly in Religious Education classes at Holy Savior or attend Catholic School.

 

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS the Knights will be selling Christmas Cards after all masses November 1 & 2 and November 8 & 9.  Thank you for your support. 

 

SAUSAGE & BISCUIT SUNDAY this Sunday, November 2nd the Knights invite everyone for coffee, sausage & biscuits and fellowship after the 9:00 Mass.  Proceeds benefit Future Priest Education.

 

29th CATHOLIC HABITAT BUILD volunteers are still needed for Holy Savior work day on November 15th.  Volunteer sign-up cards are located in the vestibule or you can contact Allen Scott at 601-506-8434.  The house is located at 2940 Smith Robinson in Jackson.

 

MASS COUNT the annual October Mass count has been completed and forwarded to the Bishop’s office.  Our average Mass attendance for the vigil Mass is 95, 9:00 a.m. Mass is 173, and the 11:00 a.m. Mass is 190 with a total weekend attendance of 458.  We thank all those who helped with the Mass count.  (Previous year’s total weekend attendance:  2010 – 485, 2011 – 459, 2012 – 447 and in 2013 – 411).

 

OFFICE OF BLACK CATHOLIC MINISTRY is sponsoring a presentation of the Cause for Canonization of Fr. Augustus Tolton, the first recognizable African American priest to serve in the US, on Saturday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the Christ the King Multipurpose building located at 2303 JR Lynch St.

 

BIRTHRIGHT OF JACKSON is in need of volunteers.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Julia Williams at 601-960-8458.

 

ST. THERESE FALL FESTIVAL is November 9th from 11:30 – 4:00 p.m.  Dinner tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.  Lots of fun activities for all ages.  For more information contact 601-372-4481.

 

THE SECOND COLLECTION to be taken up at Masses this weekend, November 2nd, is for Diocesan Missions.  This collection supports the mission parishes and schools in the Diocese of Jackson.  Envelopes are available in the pews and in the vestibule.

IN MEMORIAM the flowers in front of the altar for this Sunday are placed by Holy Savior Parish in memory of all deceased family members and parishioners.
