 BISHOP'S ANNUAL CATHOLIC SERVICE APPEAL the annual diocesan Catholic Service Appeal will be taken up next weekend February 7-8, 2015.  The theme this year is "”Called to Serve".  The annual appeal provides critical funding for the many programs and ministries of our diocese.  Each pledge does make a difference because we ask all parishioners around the diocese to participate.  If you receive a pledge form in the mail, please complete it and send it in to the diocese.  For those who do not receive a mailing you can make a pledge commitment at all Masses on February 8-9th.   Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous support.

 

FEAST OF SAINT BLAISE this Tuesday, February 3rd in the Feast Day of St. Blaise.  Blessing of throats will take place at the evening Mass on Tuesday and the morning Mass on Wednesday for those who wish to invoke St. Blaise for ailments of the throat.

 

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION classes continue this Sunday and Wednesday.  We expect parents to see that their children participate in the Religious Education program so as to understand their Catholic faith and be prepared for the sacraments of the church.  All students preparing for the sacraments of First Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation are required by Diocesan guidelines to participate in approved Religious Education programs.

 

MC CATHOLIC STUDENT ASSOCIATION will meet this Sunday, February 1st at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Hunter and Mary Katherine Yentzen.

 

LITURGICAL MINISTERS’ SCHEDULE (Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, & Ushers) please refer any preferences regarding the schedule for MARCH, APRIL, MAY AND JUNE to Julie Harkins at the Parish Office.  All schedule requests should be sent in by February 15th either by phone 601-924-6344 or email holysavior@att.net.   Thank You!

 

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS EVENTS

-Sausage and biscuit Sunday- all parishioners are invited for coffee, sausage & biscuits and fellowship in the Parish center next Sunday, February 1st following the 9:00 a.m. Mass.  Proceeds benefit future priest education.

-the Knights invite all couples to a Valentine Dinner in the Parish Center on February 14 following the 5:00 mass.  Cost is $10 per person.

-The Knights will have a corporate communion on Sunday, February 15th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass.

-the Knights are sponsoring a Men’s Day of Reflection in the Parish Center on February 22nd following the 11:00 a.m. Mass.  Lunch will be provided.

-congratulations to Jim Sharp who joined the KC’s at the 1st Degree Exemplification last Saturday.  Also, congratulations to the 3rd grade RE class whose poster was selected a sthe winning entry in the “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest. The poster is displayed in the back of church.

 

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY is Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle.  The Mass honors married couples, but especially invites couples celebrating their 25th, 50th, 60th or any significant wedding anniversary in 2015.   Parishioners celebrating significant anniversaries should call Julie at the Parish Office at 601-924-6344.  It is not too late to sign up.

 

CATHOLIC DAY AT THE CAPITOL the 5th Annual Catholic Day at the Capitol honoring our Catholic Legislators is Wednesday, February 4th.  The day will begin with noon Mass at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Jackson with lunch immediately following in the Parish Hall.  Bishop Kopacz and Bishop Morin will speak.  To make reservations go to www.mscatholicday.com or call Michael Thomas at 601-331-1152.

 

STROKE SCAN will host an ultrasound screening event at Holy Savior on Saturday, February 21st.  Representatives will be here February 14 & 15 to talk about the various scans available and to pre-register or you can call 1-866-935-7226 to schedule an appointment.  Cost is $140 for all eight.

 

ALTAR SOCIETY parishioners wishing to put flowers at the Altar in memory of a loved one should contact Sharon Hopkins at 601-668-7216 or skhop48@bellsouth.net

 

PLEASE BRING YOUR OLD PALMS TO CHRUCH a basket will be placed in the vestibule next weekend for the collection of old palms.  These palms will be burned and the ashes used for Ash Wednesday.  Thank you.
